Pastels are classic, they’re almost always in trend in the first half of the year, and with creativity, you could rock them all year round. They also happen to be among the hottest hues this summer.
These pale-hued colours tend to ooze much gentleness and innocence. If you think pastels are too sweet and girly for your liking, these are some tips to bring more edge to pastels.
One. Add structure in your pastel pieces, whether through tailored blazer or fitted dress or anything in between. Avoid pieces that are voluminous or gives no shape. Choose fitted or body-skimming silhouette.
Two. Add a statement belt to add interest. You could go with darker, or metallics, or textured or leather belts.
Three. Avoid adding pretty details like lace, frills and ribbons. Go for more something more risqué, like cropped or cutouts (side cuts or peepholes) or add textures.
Four. Pair them with edgier pieces like white denims, leather or tweed jackets.
Five. Go bold and play up the contrast through shoes or handbags that really stand out.
